The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has challenged the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) claim of creating 2.1 million jobs between 2017 and 2022

NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama

During a trip of the Ahafo Region, NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama made this declaration and charged the NPP with fabricating falsehoods in order to garner votes.

As part of its reelection campaign, the NPP has been touting its accomplishments in a number of areas, including the creation of jobs.

Mahama countered that the unemployment rate under the NPP has increased from 8% under the NDC to about 15% under the NPP.The New Patriotic Party (NPP) claims to have created 2.1 million employment between 2017 and 2022, a figure that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has contested.

Noting that many people in the region had not benefited, he questioned the location of the 2 million jobs.

Mahama also emphasized the necessity of a 24-hour economy in order to increase employment prospects for Ghanaians.

Mahama said, "There is no more deceiving us. We'll develop jobs so that young people can find work. During the NDC's rule, the unemployment rate was 8%.

On the other hand, the NPP government's current unemployment rate is 14%, or about 15%. However, the administration asserted that more than 2 million employment had been generated.

"May I know where the jobs are located? Why haven't the people here benefited from it? This is a vote-winning strategy. For this reason, the 24-hour economy, which will increase work prospects, is what the NDC government has advocated."
