Guinness World Record officially dethrones Nigeria's Hilda Baci, confirming the new cook

Hilda Baci, the chef, cooks to break a new Guinness World Record.

As the holder of the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, Nigerian chef Hilda Effiong Bassey, also referred to as Hilda Baci, has officially lost the title.

In a statement published on its official website, Guinness World Records (GWR) verified a tweet that was subsequently shared on X.

Alan Fisher was revealed as the new record-holder in the tweet.

The statement said, "Alan Fisher (Ireland), the owner and chef of a restaurant in Japan, has broken two Guinness World Records titles related to cooking."

First off, with a time of 119 hours 57 minutes, he has declared himself the winner of the longest cooking marathon (individual). That surpasses the previous record by over 24 hours, which was held by Hilda Baci, a Nigerian cook.

After that, Alan declared that he had completed the longest baking marathon (individual) in 47 hours and 21 minutes. With a time of 31 hours 16 minutes, Wendy Sandner (USA) held the previous record.

Even more amazing is the fact that Alan completed both attempts back-to-back, putting in more than 160 hours of work in the kitchen with only a day's break in between!

In June, Hilda was officially recognized as the owner of the longest cooking marathon Guinness World Record.

Over the course of her four days in the kitchen, the 26-year-old Nigerian chef cooked over 100 pots of meals from Thursday, May 11, to Monday, May 15.

Hilda tried to beat the 100-hour record, but over seven hours were taken away from her total because she had an extended rest break early in the endeavor, according to GWR.

Hilda had surpassed the previous record, which Lata Tondon (India) had achieved in 2019 with 87 hours and 45 minutes.
