Amakye Dede claims that Kuami Eugene's coronation as the "King of Highlife" was forced upon him.

Veteran Ghanaian highlife musician Amakye Dede made the startling statement that he was forced to declare young Afro-beat and highlife singer Kuami Eugene the future monarch of Ghanaian highlife.

Amakye Dede received harsh criticism after this occurrence from a number of people in the music business, including record producer Zapp Mallet.
In an open discussion on the events leading up to the crowning moment, Amakye Dede made an appearance on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday. He stated that he had no wish or intention of giving Kuami Eugene the title, suggesting that outside influences had an impact on his choice.
"Even though I did that, I did not want to do that."

He declared, "They made me crown Kuami Eugene."

According to Amakye Dede, at first he even tried to hand the crown he had been given to someone else, refusing to take part in the ceremony. Nevertheless, he ultimately found himself forced to perform the coronation against his choice.

He continued, "They later said, no I have to crown him, and I did it. I even gave the crown they handed over to someone to put it down."
By disclosing these insights, the Su fre wo Nyame hitmaker illuminated the dynamics that existed behind the scenes prior to the contentious crowning moment.

The disclosure deepens the debate and criticism that have been going on around Kuami Eugene's selection as the next highlife king.
